I hope this transmission finds you well!
As you may or may not know, Perhaps Contraption are artists in residence at Snape Maltings, deep in the wilds of Suffolk…
I’m writing with an invitation; for you to visit Snape Maltings and experience our nascent new performance, on Friday September 7th.
If you didn’t know, we are just completing the first year of a two year stint, and would love for you to come and see what we have been creating…
In a nutshell, it’s an hour of new compositions that are augmented with choreography, staging and lighting. We are showing this in an enormous, derelict factory called ‘Building 9’.
Our goal is to create a precise and intense performance for theatrical venues, that could also be scaled for acoustic street shows too. Down the line we imagine including projection mapping and more narrative.
It’s definitely our most ambitious project so far, on this little path that we are treading.
We are presenting it for the first time, as part of ‘Festival of New’ (where most things are works-in-progress). Therefore audience interaction and feedback is an integral part of the event.
I know it’s a long trip for people, but it’s a gorgeous place to visit, and your presence and thoughts on what we are doing, dear listener, would be very much appreciated.
Hopefully we will see some of you, out there, near the marshes, in the old factory, where we will be playing, dancing and singing our new sounds.
