Glastonbury, Amanda Palmer

June kicked off another busy summer for us. We journeyed to the Northern Aldborough Festival to finish off their season, supporting an Abba tribute band. Dropping in to the picturesque grounds of Houghton Hall, we serenaded weary Wynstock-ers over brunch.

Next was the mighty Glastonbury! As well as a return to the bandstand, the Lizard Lounge, Piano Bar, Sweet Charity and Stairway to Heaven in Shangri-La were all treated to a brassy blast. We mourned our missing sousa-power but enjoyed a harder edged bass of baritone saxophone and bass trombone. As it turned out, Amanda Palmer stumbled upon us and over pizza she invited us out on her tour.

Exceedingly excited to be on board with her, Perhaps Contraption graced the hub of the Roundhouse floor, surrounded by her appreciative fans, and had a blast! Upon the stage we helped out the tuxedo-bearing Jherek Bischoff on one of his songs, and Ms Palmer herself for Leeds United. Some photos are below:

A couple of days later we appeared in a similar fashion at Bristol O2 Academy, a welcome return to the band’s roots all those years ago…

Perambulations – our newest video is unleashed!

After months of work behind the scenes, here is our film for Perambulations. It’s not just a video, you can explore the performance and click on performers to see it from their point of view. See it nice and big with all the info you could need on the Perambulations page and take a look at some photos below.

Musicians Benevolent Fund “Emerging Excellence Award”

We are extremely chuffed (to say the least) that Perhaps Contraption has been awarded the highest grant possible for the Musicians Benevolent Fund Emerging Excellence Award.

You can read the full press release and see other artists included in the award here…

The award will go towards funding our biggest (and most technically challenging) project ever…

We are making a video for our next single, Perambulations, and the process will be a collaboration with 3 experts of Corporeal Mime, 3 Contemporary Dancers from the People Pile and incredible Lighting Designer Anna Barrett. We are shooting in a state of the art theatre, and the piece will feature lots of intricate choreography and Lighting.

The song itself, is a pumping, relentless monster, that we are itching to unveil. (if you have seen us live recently, you will have heard this thing, nascent and loud).

Rehearsals begin in earnest this weekend, the shoot is looming.

We are very, very excited. More information soon…

Listening Bones is Out Now (to tingle your Ossicles)

Listening Bones, Perhaps Contraption’s 3rd Album, was released this week.

You grab the whole beast from here, as a download or in lovely heavy duty gatefold packaging with intricate double sided poster by Expanded Eye. You can only get this thing direct from us at gigs or through our website.

If download is more your thing, we urge you to buy it direct through our bandcamp site rather than itunes and the rest.

For one it’s cheaper (and we get a better cut of the dosh) for two, each track is embedded with a unique picture as it scrolls through your digital player of choice. A wonderful slideshow on your listening journey…

We hope your Ossicles are pleased.

p.s. the next one is already bubbling away…
