We have been enrolled by the Head Gardeners to complete a series of parades, and celebrate this fine festivals 10th birthday. I’m immensely excited to announce that we will premiere of our new Megatraption at Secret Garden Party this Thursday.
When discussing this feat, I quickly realised that the time was ripe to almost double our device power. It is an auspicious occasion after all. And so our dirge has duly increased to a 14 piece…(and may well flux for other outings in the near future)
We welcome new contraptionites:
Edward Ashby : Tuba
Letty Stott: French Horn
Lucy Brown: French Horn
Jin Theriault: Soprano Saxophone
Sam Calcott: Flugelhorn
Chuckles the Clown: Drums
Our first parade takes place this thursday, and leaves the Oak Tree near the great stage at 21:15. We will commence “the lighting of the fires” around the garden…with the help of many other amazing performers and a 25 piece samba band….
We have 8 shows scheduled throughout the weekend…the release of the whereabouts is imminent. And we will also be peddling pre-release copies of our new album Listening Bones throughout the weekend, so do come and snap one up, as it’s only available direct from live shows until October…
Our next single will be released on 11th February 2012 as a download, alongside a limited run of posters containing the single artwork. Each poster will feature a unique, hand drawn embellishment by the artist, Squier Squier.
The launch party takes place at an amazing cosy venue on Saturday 11th February 2012 at the Servant Jazz Quarters, 10a Bradbury Street, Dalston, N16 8JN from 20:00.
The nearest overground is Dalston Kingsland / Junction and is also served by loads of buses. This day also happens to be Squier’s birthday so wear a tie.
Support comes from the incredible Goodbye Leopold; lush, ethereal, 3 part accapella and choreography. Very special indeed.
More acts TBC.
Jeff the Chameleon will also be there. Yes, a real live chameleon!
We will also be projecting things, including the amazing new video for the single; which includes a psychedelic insect menagerie! Gasp indeed. Millipedes and Domino Beetles ahoy.
Previews for the single & video are coming very soon…
Happy nish nish from all the Pertraptions. xxx
Grinning from this ear to ear here to announce Perhaps Contraption will be making appearances at Wilderness Festival this coming weekend & at the mighty Bestival in September.
We will be playing clusters of guerilla shows all over the weekends, so keep your eyes peeled for tweed and brass… or follow us on Twitter @PerhapsContrap for updates on the where/whens of our parades.
There may be a handful of amplified (gasp) stage shows falling into place too….
Aside from that we are readying ourselves to record our new material in October.
See you loping in a field, sometime soon.
